The position of Minister of the New Haven Church of Christ has been held by very few men historically.

We are looking for a minister to work with our leadership team and serve as the lead minister,

preacher, teacher and spiritual leader of the congregation.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years of ministerial experience with a Church of Christ congregation.

  • Deep understanding and ability to rightfully divide the Word of God and to preach and teach sound doctrine as demonstrated through recent sermons, classes, publications,books, etc.

  • A track record of successful leadership in congregational growth through evangelism and ministry work.

  • Experience with organizing and working with Church ministries to ensure the spiritual growth of the congregation to be able to spread the Gospel.

  • Operates from biblical principles in fellowship with the brotherhood during the terms of all preacher/minister positions.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Bible Theology, Religion or some other discipline related to ministry is preferred.

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Sermon preparation and preaching for Sunday Morning Worship.

  • Lesson preparation and teaching for Sunday and Wednesday general bible classes.

  • Lead and/or facilitate Church meetings with the congregation when needed.

  • Meet regularly with Church leadership.

  • Perform various functions such as visiting hospitals, homes, nursing care facilities, and jails/prisons.

  • Provide spiritual counseling, officiate weddings and funerals when needed.

  • A deep personal love for God reflected in both actions and words.

  • A humble and teachable spirit.

  • Compassion and empathy for people balanced with the ability to rebuke and correct.

  • Integrity and self-awareness of one’s own limitations and weaknesses.

  • Honesty and trustworthiness.

  • A good steward of Church resources.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED 

  • Clear communicator verbally and in written words.

  • Proficient in working across diverse groups.

  • Beginner and/or intermediate knowledge and ability to use technology and navigate social media platforms used by the Church of Christ.

  • Basic understanding of Church budgets and finances.
